Sorry for the lateness of the comic today. It’s been a busy day and a busier weekend. I had to help Ryan move his dad into a new apartment and I’m that kinda sore you can only get by moving an entertainment center up a flight of stairs. Then I’m covering for someone at work this week, so my time is scarce. Remember to vote so I remember to update

Trying to tip my hand a little here… not slap you in the face with it

Couple of news items today. I did some fan art for Wonderella so go check that out. Also there’s a new button located adjacent to the navigation links… [pretty much directly above this blog] Please click on it whenever you can, weekly, daily, bi-daily, from multiple computers anything you can do. You have to click to vote, and then identify a picture to ensure you’re not a bot I programmed to vote for me. The more you click, the more people come to read, the less chance there is that I’ll miss an update. It’s quick and easy and this comic is free so you owe me.

Today’s comic was a little late. I spent Sunday cleaning my apartment instead of working on comics because it was such a nice day and it took a little while to catch up. I was exhausted too… but my oven has never been cleaner. And then today I clocked myself in the eye with a racquetball at fill power because goggles are for wusses. I may get a black eye, and here I am staring at a computer screen for you fine folks… maybe you should leave a comment every once in a while… let me know you appreciate it

And as we move past Tony and Sarah’s melodrama we return to the light-hearted comedy of the macabre.

I’m hoping to start work writing the fourth and final chapter of this story tomorrow. I have some changes to make to my outline, and some things are finally coming together in my head. Lately I’ve been needing a the creative outlet I usually get from writing, but I’ve been too distracted to sit down and put together the next part of a story.

I wanted Sarah’s relationship with Tony to somewhat accurately reflect an abusive relationship. I hate in movies when the guy is just an asshole constantly. If that were the case, even the most beaten down woman would leave, but it isn’t all bad, it’s just NET bad. Tony does care about Sarah and Cameron, just not as much as he cares about himself. And most of what we see from him is under high stress, where any of us would do or say things that we wish we hadn’t.

I’m not looking to sympathize the character. I’m looking to humanize him. Villains with the motivation “because he’s evil” never make memorable stories

Tony’s an interesting character to try to write. He’s not supposed to be sympathetic, but he is unintentionally complex, even though on the surface he seems rather simple.

I’m hoping to amp up comic production soon. Lately I’ve only been able to turn out the “two a week” I’m scheduled to update, when I usually use the lighter art detail that MDW allows to get ahead on work. I also need to do some serious webdesign work too, and THAT I’m not looking forward to.
